Finnie calls for Strathaven clean up

Wednesday, 18 January, 2012

Allan Finnie and top canine supporter Jet, have called for a campaign to clean up Strathaven from dog mess left by irresponsible owners.

Allan said “As a dog owner, I am very aware of the problems caused by people not clearing up after their dogs. However the problem seems to be getting worse in Strathaven, particularly around Hamilton Road.”

Allan and Jet are asking all dog owners in Strathaven to think of other residents and clean up after their dogs.

Dog mess can be disposed of in any of the dog bins, any council litter bin (if double bagged and tied) or taken home to your wheelie bin.

Allan continued "Local residents have already suggested volunteer dog wardens or a voluntary dog ownership code. Free bags are already available from the council’s Q&A offices, the nearest of which are in East Kilbride or Hamilton. I will be pushing for these to be available locally in Strathaven for local residents.

"As a community, let’s make Strathaven a cleaner and better place for everyone."
