Simpson welcomes new Mossneuk school
PLANS have been unveiled to build a new £10million school to replace Mossneuk Primary. The existing school will be demolished and a new two-storey school built on the same site.If the plans go through then the existing Mossneuk Primary will close at the end of March with the pupils transferring to the old Canberra Primary. The new school should be ready to open by August next year. The new school will have 17 classrooms, one more than at present, plus a community wing and a nursery.East Kilbride West councillor Graham Simpson said: "This has been a long time coming and is most welcome. The existing school is one of the most popular in South Lanarkshire and is full as a result."It's a real hotch-potch with bits added on here and there over the years."The new school will provide a much better environment for learning and teaching, plus it will have community facilities which the area badly needs."The council has designed the new school to allow for extra pupils should the planned community growth area take off too."I know that the teachers and pupils are looking forward to work starting so that they can get into their new school as soon as possible."
