Cllr Graeme Campbell is our elected representative for Avondale and Stonehouse.
Since being elected in May 2007 he has had a number of successes, listed below.
Roads: We promised to try to get the  improvement of our roads in Strathaven and so far Hamilton Road, Ravenswood and Overton have all been done. Station Road and North Street are being done and so is Commercial Road. These are great results.
Policing: Scottish Conservatives fought for 1,000 extra bobbies across ScotlandI and we won that. Communities  here are seeing the results. There was only ever one officer covering Strathaven and one in Stonehouse during Friday and Saturday nights. Graeme has been arguing that we needed more and thankfully that’s happening. As of June this was upgraded to two officers for both Friday and Saturday night.
Strathaven Academy: The decant to East Kilbride was always controversial but the important thing is that kids continued to get  the education they deserved. Throughout, Graeme has been keeping tabs on how things are going and making sure that the high standards set at the school are maintained. The Academy  is now ranked 15 out of all local authority secondary schools in Scotland. What a great endorsement for everyone involved in theschool.
Stonehouse halls: Graeme has been working hard to ensure Stonehouse gets the halls it deserves, while the new community facility is being built. South Lanarkshire Council has  agreed to £200K upgrades to the Stonehouse Institute and Stonehouse public halls.
Putting the people first: Councillors here work as a team. Graeme consults his Independent, SNP and Labour counterparts on many local issues.
