Allan Finnie has been selected as the candidate for Avondale and Stonehouse in May 2012. At a recent meeting of the East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow Conservative association, the 28 year old human resources manager was chosen to stand by local members and activists.

An experienced Conservative candidate, Allan is also well known for his campaigning on equalities. 

Following the selection, Allan said: "I am proud to be part of such a strong team of candidates across our constituency, and delighted that I have been chosen as the candidate for Avondale and Stonehouse. These are difficult times for our local communities, but I am in no doubt that with the Conservative Party's record of delivering for Scotland, common sense policies and my positive campaign, I will deliver the change that local residents deserve."

Allan has already started his campaign, pledging to fight for investment in the local road network, town centre regeneration and antisocial behaviour. Allan has also vowed to tackle local issues important to residents such as supporting the campaign against the Dovesdale incinerator. 

Deputy leader of the Scottish Conservatives Murdo Fraser has given his backing to Allan's campaign, calling him "the right choice for Avondale and Stonehouse."
