Cllr Graham Simpson has been selected to defend his East Kilbride West ward at the 2012 local government election.
Cllr Simpson, the local association chairman said: "It's a great honour to be reselected. As the people of my ward know, I have been working hard for them since 2007 and I will continue to do that right up until the election next May.
"I hope that they choose to place their trust in me again, but that is something that I am certainly not taking for granted."
Graham has stood in East Kilbride in the 2007 and 2011 Scottish Parliament elections as well as the 2010 General Election.
He has lived in Stewartfield - part of the ward he represents - since 1996.
He is chairman of the Scottish Conservative Councillors Association and a member of the party's National Executive.
